Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in power within the urban setting.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the main group to embark on their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.
The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each adventurer has a individual motive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and advises that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
- But, their position as important members in the powerful family could assist the party enter locations they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and Wicander defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to head to the remote area in quest for the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
From episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to assemble the Seekers and Planners parties.
Viewers can expect finding out which adventurers will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on next week.
